I have 2 original Apple-1 computers after my "Bugbook Historical Microcomputer" museum collection was moved to the "Computer Museum of America" in Roswell, Georgia. The move included 30 tons of microcomputer historical artifacts and 2 of my 4 original Apple-1 computers.
I am selling "Schoolsky" Apple-1 computer that is fully operational. The computer comes with a lot of documentation - manuals, original cassette interface, purchase letters, Apple-1 cassette, shipping box and a lot more original items. I will be posting a blog with more detail.

Hi Thank you for viewing this page - The news is I will have no more items for sale - The entire Bugbook Computer collection had moved to the Computer Museum of America in Roswell, Georgia. The move includes several smaller collections of vintage amateur radio's and other electronic items. We are more then delighted to work with Lonnie Mmims curator of the "Computer Museum of America" and have our 45 years of collecting vintage computers effort live on at his museum.

ALTAIR 8800 for sale. The Computer has been sold. This computer has been restored to working order by Win Heagy. Win has been a vintage computer collector for many years. He has been restoring computers for a long time including current work in progress on his original PDP-8 computer.
The serial number is 220414K This computer should be very early ALTAIR computer produced in the first few .months of 1975.
An ALTAIR 8800 sold today on Ebay for $9001 and a few weeks ago one sold for about $10,000. If mine does not sell soon I will remove it for sale and put it on Ebay. 4-12-15 Checking the Ebay sale it did not make the reserve price so hi bid was $9001 but no sale.

John Titus designed this very useful octal code card for 8080 microprocessor machine code programming in 1978.
Just located a group of 50 of these in our Bugbook Computer Warehouse and they look just like the day they were made - Sharp. I will be glad to share these with memorabilia collectors for $5 including shipping 4-7-14. Contact me here.

The Franklin Computer Company made a clone (ACE 100) of the Apple ll computer. The printed circuit board is a similar layout and the operating program in ROM was an exact copy. These Franklin computers are an interesting curiosity for computer collectors. This computer is in excellent condition. The computer has 4 interface cards installed. 1.ADA lab SN 4092908 -looks like data acquisition with ADC & DAC. 2. Dumpling -64 Microtek PN 926041.1(1983) 3. Disk interface card for 2 floppy drives 30-0043. 4. Franklin sn10974 39035 RevA ( don't know what this card is) . 5. Wire wrap card prototype card with unknown circuit on the card. I am selling this because I have several duplicates. Make offer.

I found the interviews Bob did with current owners and the history makers still living that made & marketed the Apple 1 computer really great reading. Bob is the owner of the very first Apple 1 computer sold directly to consumer.

I did not get to list the PDP8I minicomputer before it was sold to Computer Collector Jack Rubin. Also Win Heagy was first to purchase one of my PDP8 computers before I made this list on my blog.

The PDP8S, PDP8, and the Systron Donner Analog computer joined the collection of Bob Rosenbloom.

The S in the model name was put their because the CPU operated serially on the instructions and not parallel - this made the computer less costly but very very slow. Some folks think the S was for slow or small - true but not why Digital Equipment Corporation put it in the name. Looks like only 3 or 4 in museums or private collections.

ReplyDeleteHi Roger - I am looking into how to ship the computer to you - sure glad to hear you like the content - I have fun writing the content. I learn a lot also in researching information for each post. Just found that the MMD1 microcomputer is referenced as the very first single board computer. My Colleague John Titus designed this and I helped him with ideas for the design. John first computer was the MARK8.
DeleteI have one of the MMD1 prototypes in my collection from the old days when John and I worked together.
I will be doing a blog about the first single board computer.

ReplyDeleteVery happy to be the new caretaker of the PDP-11/10 minicomputer, many thanks for making it all possible!
Our hope is to get it back to life and incorporated as part of a retirement project: BioPhysics research focusing on the local application of a new modeling program: the Jefferson Project by Dr John Kelly of IBM, with RPI (Rensselaer Polytechnic), for tracking pollution and invasive species, in our case in Lake Champlain, site of our summer/retirement home. Incredibly exciting and fun to see if this machine can make a contribution!

Our retirement project is BioPhysics research using a program developed by Dr. John Kelly of IBM with Rensselaer Polytechnic here in NY to track pollution and invasive species in bodies of water, in our case Lake Champlain, site of our summer/retirement home, and one of the most beautiful bodies of water in the world. Do any of the Franklin Aces have a DIP Switch block added to the motherboard? The model (a 1000) we had documented the quirky feature, and I did actually solder in the switches onto the board. Most interesting feature was that you could load a patched copy of the ROMs into memory (or a copy of the Apple Integer Basic ROM) and then have that "locked in" until the power cycled. That was a particularly useful tool for boot tracing protected disks.
ReplyDeleteHi William - I am slow to respond because it took me a little time over the holidays to look inside the Franklin Aces for the DIP switches. I did not see and DIP's in the ones I have. I never used an Ace so have no real experience with them. They did sell them in the 10's of thousands from what I have read.
DeleteDid you get a lot of use out of the ones you used? I don't hear much from people who actually used one. I do have a good representation of Franklin computers in my collection. Some are duplicates - that is why I put these up for sale here on my blog. Anyone interested I don't expect to get much for them. Thank You , David.
